Like The Royal Theatre, administration of the McPherson Theatre is also looked after by the Royal & McPherson Theatre Society. The theatre is also popular by another name “McPherson Playhouse” and even referred to as ‘The Mac’ by the localities.
Originally the McPherson Playhouse was established in the year 1914 and was then known as ‘Pantages Theatre’. The Pantages Theatre was named after a person who provided funds for reconstruction of the theatre and bequeathed it to the Victorian people, Thomas Shanks McPherson. The present auditorium in Neo-Baroque style was refurbished in 1965 along with addition of modern lobby and technical improvements. The McPherson Theatre holds number of amateur, professional and community events throughout the year.
The McPherson Theatre is proscenium in nature with a balcony with conventional seating and two side boxes. The theatre has total seating capacity of 818 (if you have full orchestra pit the capacity would be 777) which includes 362 in balcony, 424 on main floor, 24 in boxes, maximum 4 in wheelchair section and 4 removable seats in production position.
Apart from conducting the stage performances of renowned artists throughout the year, the McPherson Theatre also offers their premises (lobby section of the theatre) to the general public for conducting lectures, receptions, meetings, show-related functions and other private functions.

The McPherson Theatre administration also provides you services of bartenders, ushers, ticket takers, coat check attendants, concessionaires, merchandise sellers and security personnel etc.
The performances at the McPherson Theatre are usually conducted between 2 pm and 8 pm on all days from Monday to Saturday with an intermission of 15 to 20 minute duration. Tickets for shows are sold between 0930am and 0530pm on all working days. You can purchase tickets for McPherson Theatre shows even at Royal Theatre box office.

If you walk down Fort St, turn right at Douglas Ave than on your right hand side of Pandora Ave. Parking after 6:00PM at parking meters is free.
